Business Rules

Automate any process, no code required

With Business Rules, you create hooks that trigger actions the moment certain events occur. They're a sort of drag-and-drop programming language, so you can automate almost any process - from moving cards to notifying a team in Slack - without writing a line of code.

Automate any process,

Automation that scales with your process

Flexible. Governed. Transparent.

Flexible

A rule for practically any trigger.

A lot of daily work isn't hard, it's just repetitive. Business Rules take that work off your plate by watching for the moments that matter and reacting automatically. You describe what should happen and when, and the system takes it from there, quietly keeping everything moving without anyone having to remember to do it manually.

A rule for practically any trigger.
Governed

Control exactly who can build and manage automations.

Setting up and editing automations is limited to the people responsible for them, so the rest of the team can rely on things working consistently without worrying about who might change what.

Control exactly who can build and manage automations.
Transparent

See exactly when and why every rule fired.

It's hard to trust automation you can't see inside of. Whenever a rule runs, there's a clear record of it, so if something moves, updates, or gets flagged unexpectedly, you can look back and understand exactly why.

Depending on the rule type, a Business Rule can create, move, or update a card, send a notification, or call a web service. Configuration follows a When → And → Then structure: the triggering event, the filter conditions, and the actions to execute.

Only Account Owners and users with the "Manage Business Rules" privilege. Account Owners can manage rules across the whole account, while privileged users can manage rules on any board they're a member of. Rules can also be shared with other users, such as Workspace Managers, so they can modify, enable, or disable them.

Yes, daily execution limits depend on your account subscription. These are soft limits - reaching them won't stop your rules from running, but Account Owners get notified at 80%, 90%, and 100% of the daily quota so they can investigate or optimize a rule if needed. The count resets every day at 00:00:00 UTC.
